We are planning to take all the children in Year 5 on a residential visit to the Lake District, taking place between Monday 9 July and Thursday 12 July 2017.We will stay in an outdoor activity centre in Ullswater in the Lake District and the children will sleep in dormitories with meals provided.
The centre is very experienced at catering to school children, and will plan some outdoor activities for us such as gorge walking, abseiling and canoeing. We will also do some of our own activities in the area including a study of a contrasting locality to Halifax.
A residential visit such as this will give the children the chance to be independent, as well as giving them new experiences and we know they will both learn from and enjoy the visit. In order for the children to get the most out the visit, there will be some after school sessions closer to the visit and a meeting for parents.
The estimated cost of the residential is £240 this year and school is in a position to heavily subsidise the trip so we would like parents to contribute £100. The cost includes 3 nights accommodation, all meals, insurance, transport and entrance fees for any activities. These will include local walks around the landscape, outdoor pursuits at the residential centre and a trip to a visitor centre including an IMAX cinema.
